Your Raw Burmese Kinky Curly Half Wig is made with premium raw textured human hair and should be cared for like natural curly/coily hair. With proper maintenance, gentle handling, and professional care, this wig can last 5+ years.
Daily Maintenance
Refresh the curls as needed with water, a lightweight leave-in conditioner and moisture cream and oil in a spray bottle. Use your fingers to gently separate the curls and reshape the hair. For more definition and hold, apply a small amount of curl cream, mousse, or foam while the hair is damp. Use a light oil mist spray for shine
Avoid heavy oils, thick gels, waxes, and excessive product layering. Too much product can cause buildup, dryness, tangling, and dullness.
If the hair starts to expand or become fuller throughout the day, lightly mist it with water and smooth in a small amount of leave-in conditioner or curl-defining product. This will help the curls rehydrate and clump back together without weighing the hair down.
Shampooing the Wig
Shampoo your wig when you notice product buildup, dullness, scalp oil transfer, or when the curls no longer refresh easily.
To shampoo:
- Gently detangle the wig first using your fingers to get out any knots or tangles. Start from the ends and work your way upward.
- After the tangle and knots are out brush with unbrush or wide tooth comb to make sure hair is completely tangle free.
- Wet the hair with lukewarm to water. rinse for 2 minutes.
- Apply a moisturizing sulfate-free shampoo.
- Cleanse gently in a downward motion. Do not rub, twist, or scrub the hair aggressively.
- Rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear for 5 minutes.
- Follow with a hydrating conditioner. Allow wig to sit in conditioner bath for 10 minutes.
- Then brush the hair to make sure all curls are hydrated and moisturized.
- Do not pile the hair on top of itself while washing. This can cause tangling and unnecessary friction. Always finger detangle, comb, brush and shampoo in a downward motion.
Co-Washing
Co-washing can be used between shampoo days when the wig needs moisture but does not need a full cleanse. 10-15 minutes is long enough for the hair to sit.
Use a moisturizing conditioner or co-wash product to soften the curls, refresh the texture, and reduce dryness. Co-washing is helpful when the hair feels dry, frizzy, or expanded but does not have heavy product buildup.
If the wig has product buildup, oils, or styling residue, shampoo first instead of only co-washing.
Conditioning and Detangling
After shampooing or co-washing, apply conditioner generously and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Detangle while the conditioner is in the hair.
Use:
- Fingers
- Wide-tooth comb
- Detangling brush made for curly hair (Unbrush or Curl bounce brush)
Always detangle from the ends upward. Never start brushing from the root area because this can create shedding, breakage, and unnecessary tension on the wig construction.
When to Brush the Wig
Only brush or detangle the wig when the hair is damp and has conditioner, leave-in conditioner, or a detangling product applied.
Do not brush the wig while it is completely dry. Dry brushing can cause frizz, expansion, curl separation, shedding, and loss of curl definition.
For daily styling, finger-shaping is best. Use a brush only when fully refreshing, washing, or redefining the curls.
How to Dry the Wig Properly
After washing, gently squeeze out excess water with your hands. Then use a microfiber towel or cotton T-shirt to blot the hair.
Do not wring, twist, or rub the hair with a towel.
Place the wig on a wig stand or mannequin head and allow it to air dry fully. Make sure the cap is also completely dry before storing or wearing.
Air drying is best for maintaining curl integrity. If you must use heat, use a diffuser on low heat and low airflow. Too much heat can dry out the hair and affect the curl pattern over time. DO NOT PUT THE WIG IN THE CLOTHES DRYER.
Nightly Storage
If you remove your wig at night, place it on a wig stand, mannequin head, or in a satin storage bag.
Before storing:
- Lightly detangle with your fingers if needed
- Make sure the wig is completely dry
- Do not store the wig while damp
- Do not crush the curls under heavy items
If you keep the wig on overnight, protect it with a satin bonnet or satin scarf. However, for the longest lifespan, we recommend removing the wig before sleeping whenever possible.
Long-Term Storage
For long-term storage, shampoo and condition the wig first. Allow it to dry completely, then store it in a satin bag, silk bag, breathable wig bag, or on a mannequin head.
Keep the wig away from:
- Direct sunlight
- Excessive heat
- Humid storage areas
- Plastic bags for long-term storage
- Heavy products before storage
Never store the wig wet or damp. This can cause odor, matting, mildew, and damage to the cap construction.
Coloring the Wig at Home
We do not recommend coloring this wig at home.
Raw curly and coily textures require professional color care to protect the curl pattern, moisture balance, and overall longevity of the hair. At-home color can cause dryness, uneven color, over-processing, curl loosening, or permanent damage.
For best results, custom color should be completed by a professional colorist who understands raw textured hair.
